Photos of the Lexus RZ 450e

Few months ago, Lexus released the first photos of the RZ 450e, with the model being part of the big, upcoming push of the brand in electric propulsion and practically being the luxury version of Toyota bZ4X .

Design-wise, on the front the RZ 450e boasts a new version of Lexus ‘ “spindle” grille . More specifically, instead of it being fully open, there is a small airway at the bottom and vertical openings on each side. There are also slim LED luminaires, with the hood tilted forward.

Today, the premium Japanese company announced its global sales for 2021, and at the same time gave some new photos of its purely electric SUV.

Starting from the first, Lexus sold 760,012 units worldwide, in the period January-December 2021, an increase of 6% compared to the previous year, showing a recovery trend. About 332,000 units were sold in North America (+ 12% compared to the previous year), while China achieved a record with about 227,000 sales (+ 1% compared to the previous year).

Lexus aims to offer a full range of all-electric (BEV) models in all categories by 2030, with 100% of its sales being BEVs in Europe, North America and China, reaching 1 million units worldwide. In addition, Lexus aims to sell 100% of its electricity worldwide by 2035.

Mechanically, Lexus did not give any information, but the RZ 450e will have the same sets as the bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. Thus, the RZ 450e will be based on the e-TNGA platform and will logically be available in two versions, where in the first the electric motor will be mounted on the front axle (front-wheel drive) and in the second on both.
