NADDC committed to Nigeria EV agenda, commends PEV over project
In line with the vision of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to position Nigeria as one of the leading automotive manufacturing nations of the world, the Director General, NADDC, Joseph Osanipin on Friday, December 22, 2023 visited the Possible Electric Vehicles (PEV) Limited, Abuja.
Possible Electric Vehicles Limited is a company in the automotive horizon positioning itself as an intending electric vehicle manufacturer with a profound commitment to sustainable and innovative mobility solutions in Nigeria.
The director-general commended management of PEV Limited for the giant step and expressed Council’s readiness to partner with stakeholders to develop and promote EV in Nigeria.
“We are here as the agency that regulates the automotive sector, we deemed it fit to reach out to stakeholders in the industry and one of them is Possible Electric Vehicles limited. Our role is to create an enabling environment to make sure they are one of the leading pioneers of EVs in Nigeria”.
He encouraged Nigerians to embrace EV technology in view of its environmental friendliness and contribution to the economy.
“EV is the cleanest of all means of transportation, as we are trying to see how we can grow the production of local components from it’s current state to a minimum of 40%”.
Chief executive officer of Possible Electric Vehicles limited, Mosope Ola earlier in his speech said the company is working in partnership with foreign Original Equipment Manufacturer to establish a mega EV manufacturing facility in Nigeria, adding that PEV limited shall roll out 100 EV buses in partnership with the federal government in the next four months.
