LAAC elects new Exco as Idris Suleiman emerges Chairman

The League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) has elected a new executive with Idris Suleiman emerging as the new Chairman.

In the election conducted at the Saleh Dunoma Press Centre at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Abdullateef Aliyu was also elected as the Vice Chairman while Anthony Awunor emerged as the Secretary.

Others executives elected to pilot the affairs of LAAC are Ifeoma Okeke assistant secretary; Lamidi Morufu Treasurer while Pearl Ngwama will serve as the auditor.

Suleiman, transport editor with Blueprint Newspaper succeeds Olusegun Koiki of Daily Independent who served for two terms.

The elected officials who were sworn in immediately after the election by the LAAC electoral committee chairman, Franklin Ihejiirika are expected to serve the association for a period of three years.

In his speech shortly after the swearing in ceremony, Suleiman thanked all the voters for electing him as the new chairman of LAAC.

He pledged to collaborate with all the relevant aviation industry stakeholders in order to improve the development of the industry.

He urged stakeholders to continue to support LAAC as the industry is in dire need of positive narrative.

,“As the purveyor of development in the industry, LAAC will continue to scrutinize and join hands in the development of the sector as journalists. I am ready to take advice and if you have any that will move the association forward, please bring it up”, he added.

LAAC is Nigeria’s only aviation media umbrella body registered with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) saddled with the responsibility of ensuring effective media coverage and practice in the aviation industry.
