Jet Engine manufacturers and auto industry has cut down one-fifth of its workforce numbering about 9000 employees amid the Corona Virus pandemic.
According to reports, Rolls Royce said it laid off 9000 of its work force to enable them meet up with their £1.3bn in annual cost savings to weather the protracted downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic that has grounded much of the world’s airlines.
The Derby based company said the civil aerospace business workers is the worst hit by the lay off as 8000 out of the 9000 fall under the aerospace business workers.
Rolls-Royce’s chief executive, Warren East said “It’s fair to say that of our civil aerospace business, approximately two-thirds of the total employees are in the UK at the moment and that’s probably a good first proxy.”
