Covid-19: 80 travelers busted in Abuja
80 travelers have been arrested in Abuja for violating the Federal government directives on inter state travel.
According to reports, the travelers were intercepted by the Enforcement Task team on COVID-19 Restrictions and the vehicles inpounded and some others turned back.
Confirming the incident the Chairman, FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task team on COVID-19 Restrictions, Ikharo Attah expressed his disappointments that people travel despite the Federal government ban on inter state travel.
Attah added that 21 of the passengers were traveling from Ondo state to Kano state, while 6 were traveling from Lagos to Jos. 13 passengers were traveling from Kaduna to Warri while 16 passengers were traveling from Niger to Nasarawa. 20 passengers were traveling from Kogi to Kaduna and 8 where traveling from Akwa Ibom to Kaduna.
The vehicles impounded were a Peugeot J5 bus, a dangote truck, a Volkswagen Sharon bus, 3 Toyota Hiace bus and a Mazda bus.
Attah notes that the passengers were arraigned in Zuba mobile court. The passengers were fined N1000 while the drivers were fined N3000 to N5000.
