FG will continue to encourage Jet Motors, others over EVs project, says NADDC DG
The director-general of the National Automotive Design & Developmentt Council (NADDC), Aliyu Jelani, has reiterated that, the council would continue to support Jet Motors Company and relevant stakeholders with applicable fiscal and non-fiscal incentives so as to continue to successfully build more of Electric Vehicles, and positioning Nigeria on a platform to fully capitalize on the upportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.
Aliyu Jelani made this known when the management Jet Motors presented a newly assembled 14-seater electric buses to the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, in Abuja.
During the official presentation of the vehicles at the NADDC headquarters in Abuja recently, the chief operating officer of Jet Motors Oluwemimo Joseph-Osanipin expressed his satisfaction over NADDC support, describing the council as a long standing committed partner.
Joseph-Osanipin added that, the approval of the Jet Motors EVs and charging infrastructure by the Council has opened a new chapter of possibilities for the company.
“Beyond embracing the current realities of the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration, e-mobility appears to be the future, being an innovation that is positively disrupting the traditional mode of powering mobility,” Osanipin added.
Jet Motors is one of the leading brands in the African automotive industry and has been in the business of producing and providing affordable and eco-friendly transportation options for Africans. It produces a range of electric vehicles for both passenger and utility applications.
While test-runing the e-vehicles and observing the functionality of the technology, the NADDC boss noted that e-mobility is an unparalleled transportation solution for Nigeria and Africa.
Aliyu emphasised the NADDC’s commitment to giving its full support for the mass production of Electric Vehicles in Nigeria, adding that, the motivation was to make life easy for Nigerians in a cost-effective manner and to ease the challenges occasioned by high cost of petrol and diesel.
“Nigeria has no other option other than to continue on this trajectory, we must adopt e-mobility on a massive scale and run with it”. He said.
