TTP joins UNILAG to empower future graduates maritime career
Trucks Transit Parks Ltd. (TTP) proudly participated in the official launch of the UNILAG-Employment Clinic: Education to Employment Transition Programme (EETP), themed “Blue Career Insights.” The event took place at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, and brought together leaders from both academia and industry.
Jama Onwubuariri, managing director of TTP, was a key panellist, offering his expertise on the transition from education to employment. During the session, he surmised that to enable the education-to-employment transition, students need to identify their passion, minimize distractions, identify socio-economic problems around them and research their solutions, be team players, stand on the right principles and avoid destructive habits.
Onwubuariri also highlighted the success of TTP’s Ètò call-up system, a pioneering technology that has revolutionized logistics and transport management at Apapa and Tincan ports. Mr. Onwubuariri’s insights underscored the critical role of innovation and practical solutions in enhancing graduate employability.
The event featured esteemed guests such as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Folasade Ogunsola, Princess Ronke Kosoko, chief executive officer of Maritime Innovation Hub and other Heads of Industries who shared their perspectives on the importance of collaborative efforts in preparing students for the workforce. Their contributions emphasized the need for a robust partnership between academia and industry.
“TTP is committed to fostering an environment where education meets practical application,” said Mr Onwubuariri. “Our participation in this significant event reflects our dedication to empowering students with the tools and knowledge necessary for success in the modern workforce. At TTP, we believe in the power of innovation and critical thinking to drive sustainable economic development.
The Ètò system is a prime example of how innovative thinking can address critical challenges and create new opportunities, and we are honoured for the opportunity to share our experiences and insights with the future leaders in attendance”.
The UNILAG-Employment Clinic, EETP, is designed to provide students with the skills and insights needed to navigate the transition from university to employment effectively. The program’s success highlights the value of industry-academia collaborations in driving positive outcomes for students and the broader economy.
