Toyota Yaris wins car of the year
The Japanese car brand Toyota Yaris have been awarded the European car of the year.
The 2021 Toyota Yaris beat hatchbacks like the Fiat 500, Cupra Formentor, Volkswagen ID.3, Skoda Octavia, Land Rover Defender, and Citröen C4 to cling to the title of European car of the year.
It was announced during the Geneva Auto Show which was held in Geneva and broadcast worldwide.
Toyota reacting to the award said
“This is a great honor for Toyota and I’d like to thank the jury for their consideration and recognition,” Matt Harrison, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Europe, said. “I’d also like to take this opportunity to recognize the passion of our development teams in Europe and Japan.”
For a car to be nominated for the European car of the year, it has to be new and on sale now or before the end of the year in atleast 5 European markets.
