NORD unveils A9 SUV, A3 Sedan to tackle segment rivals in Nigeria
Competition in Nigeria’s automotive industry took another dimension recently following the recent opening of the Nord Automobile ultra-modern showroom and official unveiling of the luxury 3 seater row Nord A9 Crossover SUV and A3 compact sedan model of vehicles in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria’s hub of automotive business.
At the formal unveiling of both the crossover SUV and compact sedan at the event, those in attendance were representatives from the Ogun state governor, the inspector-general of Police represented by the AIG Zone 2, Lagos, representatives from the University of Lagos, bankers, other corporate fleet and individual customers, decision makers as well as captains of industry and other social influencers.
Oluwatobi Ajayi, chief executive officer of Nord Automobiles Limited stated that, while the A9 is a mid-size SUV positioned to met the luxury and safety needs of the upwardly-mobile car freaks, the A3 is a compact sedan that appeals to all classes of prospective car shoppers in the market.
During an interview with select motoring editors in his office few days after the event, the Nord Automobile CEO disclosed that, apart from being a luxury mid-size SUV, the A9 comes with a lot of features like brake assists, blind spot assist, is equipped with level two autonomous driving technology meaning that, that, the car can on its own intuitively apply breaks and autonomously park, but with a caveat that, it can only only be possible on a straight lane.
In terms of competition, the A9 SUV can compete with the likes of Changan Uni-K SUV , the Lexus RX-350 and the Toyota, but way more bigger, a 3-seater and luxurious. The Nord arrowhead pointed out that, guests that attended the launching of the two models were highly marveled and in love with the A9 SUV to that extent, that, 14 units have been sold out on the night of the products reveal, another 4 units after that day while more are to be rolled out of the local assembly line soon.
He described the A9 SUV as an affordable luxurious vehicle when compared with other rivals. What stands out when compared with other brands is that it is a luxurious vehicle that is very elegant, versatile, reliable and easy to maintain and offers the best price in the market.
Being the flagship of the current Nord brand portfolio, it comes in 2.0-liter turbo-charge engine and also has 1.6 liter engine turbo. While it runs on petrol, it is also CNG compatible according to the demands of the customer.
On the other hand, the A3 is a 1.6-liter super premium sedan that rivals the Toyota Corolla and the Kia Cerato among others. Both the A9 and A3 are offered with a 5 years/200,000 kilometers warranty whichever comes first with a service and oil change schedule plan of every 3 months or 5,000 kilometers whichever comes first.
