Marbel Ihegboro Foundation Distributes Palliatives, Wheelchairs To The Needy, Physically Challenged

The Village Square of Umulolo, Amaegbu in Nkwerre , lmo State came alive with gratitude and renewed hope recently as the Marbel Ihegboro Foundation (MIF) carried out a humanitarian outreach that touched the lives of the needy and physically challenged members of the community and its neighbouring communities.

The end-of-year intervention project which drew the traditional ruler, Eze Chijioke Okwara, Eshi Of Nkwerre, community leaders, opinion leaders, youths, women, and beneficiaries from Umulolo and neighbouring villages, featured the distribution of essential palliatives to vulnerable households as well as the donation of wheelchairs to persons living with physical disabilities.

The initiative according the brain behind the MIF was aimed at easing economic hardship, restoring dignity, and promoting inclusion, especially at a time when many families face growing socio-economic challenges.

Speaking at the event, Ms Chibuzor Ihegboro, Founder/ Chairperson of Marbel Ihegboro Foundation stated that the outreach was part of the foundation’s commitment to humanitarian service and community development.

According to Chibuzor Ihegboro, the choice of December 31 was symbolic and an opportunity to end the year by giving hope and comfort to those who need it most.

“Our mission as a foundation is to put smiles on faces and ensure that no one is left behind,” a foundation representative said. “We believe that supporting the needy and empowering the physically challenged is not charity alone, but a shared responsibility that strengthens our communities”. She stated.

Beneficiaries received food items and household palliatives carefully packaged to support families during the festive period and beyond. For the physically challenged recipients, the presentation of wheelchairs was a deeply emotional moment, as many of them had struggled with mobility for years due to financial constraints.

One of the wheelchair recipients, visibly moved, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the foundation, noting that the donation would significantly improve independence, mobility, and quality of life.

“This wheelchair has restored my confidence,” the beneficiary said. “I can now move around freely and participate more actively in community life”. She declared with a deep sense of emotion.

Speaking at the event, His Royal Highness, Eze Chijioke Okwara, Eshi ll of Nkwerre commended the initiator of Marbel Ihegboro Foundation for her compassion and foresight. He described the initiative as timely and impactful, especially in rural communities where access to social support and mobility aids remains limited.

On its part, the leadership of Umulolo Amaegbu Development Union (U.A.D.U) praised the foundation for remembering the grassroots and called on other individuals, organizations, and philanthropists to emulate the gesture.

They emphasized that such interventions foster unity, reduce hardship, and reinforce the values of empathy and collective progress.

Women and youth groups in attendance also applauded the foundation, describing the outreach as a clear demonstration of love in action.

Cultural performances and prayers of thanksgiving added colour to the occasion, turning the Village Square into a hub of celebration and communal bonding.

As the year drew to a close, the Marbel Ihegboro Foundation’s outreach stood as a powerful reminder that meaningful change begins with compassion and purposeful action.
