LSM branded CNG Buses redefines travellers experience at Nigerian airports
The Federal Government has deployed units of LSM branded powered by 100 percent CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) to ease passenger shuttle service at the Lagos airport. The buses will also be deployed to other airports across the country for more efficient services.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new LSM branded CNG buses provided by the federal government to ease passenger movement at the airport reconstructed and refurbished through public, private partnership (PPP), Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace management received in Lagos by officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said the new buses which is in line with the migration from the usage of fossil fuel to compressed natural gas will be deployed to all the airports in Nigeria.
According to the minister of aviation, ‘’What you see here today is a fleet of CNG buses that FAAN will commence passenger movement at all our airports immediately’’.
The minister described the LSM branded bus as environment friendly, zero emission and in line with global standards of moving away from petrol. The CNG buses inspected by the minister of aviation, the managing of FAAN and other dignitaries is sleek, comfortable with amazing features, was assembled in Nigeria by an indigenous local Lanre Shittu Motors, an indigenous local automobile company which is a testament to federal government commitment to the development, empowerment and application of local content.
The four newly acquired Compressed Natural Gas, CNG-powered LSM airport transit buses are eco-friendly buses, designed with accessibility features for persons with disabilities.
It is part of Nigeria’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and meeting global climate targets.
The CNG buses which are in compliant with President Bola Tinubu’s goal of promoting sustainable practices and reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuels,analysts say will improve passenger mobility within the airport premises.
These buses are manufactured to run on CNG naturally, offering a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective option.
The LSM-branded CNG buses come in two specifications: a 31-seater for airport shuttle services and a 54-seater for mass transit city buses. They are equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning, viewing screens, and charging stations.
Plans are underway to assemble these buses in Lagos using cutting-edge technology, and the company also offers kits for converting petroleum-powered vehicles to CNG.
With the introduction of these CNG buses, LSM aims to provide a more sustainable and efficient transportation solution for Lagos and other parts of the country.
