The audience was held silent and emotions enveloped the halll on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, during the Motoringworld 30th Anniversary when Babatunde Bola Ojo, the late veteran motoring broadcaster was posthumously honoured with the Broadcast Excellence Award.

The award was presented in recognition of Bola Ojo’s immense contributions to transport and automotive broadcasting in Nigeria, where he earned widespread respect for his professionalism, passion and dedication to promoting road safety, mobility and the development of the nation’s automotive industry through the electronic media.

The colourful ceremony brought together top government officials, captains of the automotive industry, transport stakeholders, motoring journalists and corporate executives to celebrate three decades of Motoring World’s contributions to automotive journalism and industry advocacy.

Speaking on the significance of the award, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Motoring World, Femi Owoeye, said the recognition was a tribute to a broadcasting icon whose voice helped shape public understanding of transportation and motoring issues in Nigeria.

According to Owoeye:
“The Posthumous Broadcast Excellence Award bestowed on the late Babatunde Bola Ojo is our way of preserving the legacy of a man whose dedication to motoring and transport broadcasting inspired generations.

“He used the microphone not merely to inform but to educate, advocate and promote safer roads and a stronger automotive industry. Though he is no longer with us, his impact continues to resonate across the industry, and we believe his remarkable contributions deserve to be remembered and celebrated”.

Owoeye added that the Motoring World @30 celebration was designed not only to commemorate the publication’s three decades of service to Nigeria’s automotive sector but also to honour individuals whose vision, professionalism and commitment have helped advance the industry.

The late Bola Ojo’s recognition was among several honours presented to distinguished personalities and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s automotive, transport and mobility sectors over the past three decades.

The anniversary celebration also featured a keynote address by Boboye Oyeyemi, former Corp Marshal of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), industry reflections and the presentation of special awards to notable automotive journalists, industry leaders and corporate organisations, reinforcing Motoring World’s enduring commitment to promoting excellence and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
