ABC Transport puts record straight on kidnapped passengers

The management of ABC Transport Plc has put the record straight on the news circulating round on social media that one of its Sienna vehicles with two passengers and not a luxury bus as wrongly reported was jijacked by gunmen at about 1.30 pm last Saturday, February 3, in Kogi state.

In a statement signed the Victor Nneji, group head, Strategy and Innovation, ABC Transport, it said, ” A Toyota Sienna vehicle
going to Abuja from Enugu with a couple on board, was among the vehicles hijacked by gunmen at about 1.30 pm on Saturday, February 3, in Kogi state.

The statement from the transport company assured that it has been cooperating with the relevant security agencies to resolve the situation, reiterating that, top priority of the management is the wellbeing of the victims.

“What did occur was that at about 1:30pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at a village called Ayele Adumu, in Olamaboro local government area of Kogi State, unknown persons blocked and attacked oncoming vehicles and amongst which was an ABC Sienna en-route Enugu to Abuja with two passengers. The two passengers and the bus driver were led into the bush alongside other passengers of other vehicles and have since been held hostage”.

ABC Transport is actively co-operating with relevant security agencies to resolve the matter as swiftly as possible.

According to Victor Nneji, “Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew, and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure a prompt and thorough resolution to the issue at hand”.

On the public concerns as a rresult of some unconfirmed reports in circulation, ABC Transport urged everyone to rely on official statements from the company for accurate and up-to-date information.

Nneji also disclosed that an ABC Transport team is working tirelessly to provide updates as the situation unfolds, assuring that such reliable and accurate information will promptly be released to the public.

“We appreciate the co-operation of our passengers, stakeholders, and the public in allowing us the time and space to address this matter responsibly. We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security for our valued passengers and staff,” the statement concluded.
