Lagos state governor appoints former VIS boss permanent secretary
The former director at the Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS) officers were among the 10 and 8 others appointed as tutors-general/permanent secretaries from the MDAs from within the Lagos state public service.
As gathered, the appointment was made barely 24 hours after the appointees were made to face the governor for an oral screening exercise that lasted for several hours at the state house in Ikeja.
The appointment of Toriola and 10 others were confirmed by the head of service (HoS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen last Thursday.
Muri-Okunola said that the appointees were picked from the pool of qualified candidates based on their competence in the task ahead.
He expressed confidence that the new appointees who had emerged from a field of intelligent and qualified officers possess the qualities, competencies, and experience required to serve as permanent secretaries in the Lagos state public service.
Before Toriola’s appointment, he was the director of mechanical at the ministry of transportation, the position he held after leaving the VIS, where he introduced several measures to reduce gridlock in the state.
