Airlines In Nigeria to Shutdown Operations
The Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema has said that all airlines in Nigerian might shut down in the next three days if nothing is done about the recent fuel scarcity in the country.
Airline operators in the country are demanding for operational licences from the Federal Government to start importing fuel.
Speaking at a meeting of oil marketers and Airline operators at the National Assembly, Onyema stressed that the non-availability of Aviation fuel to run their operations might cripple the Aviation industry.
He said; “We have only three more days, all airlines in Nigeria will shut down. We are not threatening this country, it is a fact”.
“I have the mandate of all airlines to demand that Airlines begin importation of fuel, if we can buy planes of millions of dollars, we can also import fuel ourselves. Let NNPC give Airlines licenses, we want to import ourselves”, he insisted.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari and other stake holders in were in attendance
