NADDC DG unveils full electric mini bus converted from petrol-engine

Efforts of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) at stepping up the momentum of federal government’s automotive policy with the local assembly of vehicles to meet growing consumer demands at affordable prices has continued to gain traction. 

Last Wednesday in Abuja, Jelani Aliyu, director-general of NaDDC unveiled an electric mini bus converted from a petrol engine.

The electric vehicle project was executed by a joint effort of group of four very young Nigerians from Maiduguri, Borno state.

The vehicle was presented last week to the director general t the premises of NADDC director in Abuja by the four innovators.

While receiving the vehicle, the NADDC boss described the project as magnificent and commended the young people for the initiative.

He urged other young Nigerians to emulate the  efforts by putting their acquired knowledge and skills into productive use that could solve economic and societal problems.

The NADDC boss promised that the agency would support the mass production of the vehicle and ensure its meeting the global standards.

According to him,  “We hope to see more of this from other Nigerians. The NADDC is committed to this. We’re going to sit with the guys and discuss how to make it more efficient and applicable for Nigerians”.

He disclosed  that the agency are going to look into mass production of the vehicle in the most effective way that will meet acceptable global standards.

Aliyu also said already the nation’s policy had provided the solid base for the project, adding that the government was working on strategies to improve the patronage of vehicles assembled in Nigeria.
