New KIA Niro and Specifications
The new Kia Niro was unveiled last November and today the Korean company revealed its technical details. The vehicle has a length of 4.42 meters (+6.5 million from the previous generation), a width of 1.825 meters (+2 million), a height of 1,545 meters (+1 cm), with the wheelbase increased by 2 cm and to reach 2.7 meters.
The new Niro has an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.29 Cd and its increased dimensions translate into a more spacious cabin, with the luggage compartment capacity being increased by 15 liters to 451.
It is powered by a four-cylinder 1,600 hp GDI Smartstream 105 hp petrol engine with 144 Nm of torque combined with a 43.5 hp electric motor. The hybrid system combines 141 horsepower with 177 Nm of torque and works with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Within the life cycle of the new Niro, Kia will offer it both with a plug-in hybrid engine and as a purely electric one.
There is a Green Zone function that automatically shuts off the internal combustion engine when the navigation system detects a green zone. In addition the driver can manually set green zones to force the crossover to run solely on electricity. The car is also equipped with an energy recovery system during braking.
Inside we find a 10.25 οθόνη touch screen, 10 head head-up display, with Kia installing additional sound insulation material.
